    Position Overview

    The House Manager is an essential role in the ongoing operations of the House along with the safety and well-being of the residents.  A wide variety of responsibilities are included in this role, the first and foremost being, ensuring the environment of the House is safe, welcoming, and inclusive for all residents.  The uniqueness of this position is the onsite apartment where the House Manager will reside.  While not actively on duty 24 / 7, they will be the first and primary contact, regardless of the time of day or night, for any type of emergency situation that may arise with the House or its residents.

    The House Manager is supported by the Board of Directors of the Ignatia Foundation. The House Manager reports to and collaborates with  Co-chair on household operations. The Co-chair will then seek input of or discussions with the Board as needed. The House Manager is expected to be in recovery from substance use disorder, to have a minimum of 2 years sobriety, have worked all 12 steps, and be actively sponsored by a member of a 12 step program not on the board of the Ignatia House.

    Duties and Responsibilities

    House manager’s administrative responsibilities that will include but are not limited to the following:

    • Learn and utilize One Step software to its full reporting potential. This includes: create and maintain data regarding house report, resident intake and exit info, updating resident database, manage collection of and recording of program fees, incident reports, reports to parole officers, probations offices, etc., proof of residency letters, medications, breathalyze, etc. Complete all administrative functions, as they arise.

    • Presence at dinner (cooked by residents) a minimum 4 nights per week

    • Field phone screens and inquiries from potential residents, families and treatment centers.  Schedule interviews and give tours as needed.

    • Monitor building and appliances conditions to ensure proper maintenance and upkeep. 

    • Monitor dormitory cleanliness and daily chores schedule to completion. Will conduct random checks of areas and belongings.

    • Be present and assist in weekly grocery needs, enlisting help from residents as needed. Work with Co-chair on keeping grocery budget on track.

    • Weekly update meetings with Co-chair to facilitate smooth running of house.

    • Acute awareness to resident interactions and community to stay ahead of potential issues.

    • With board support, work with residents to gauge interest in and plan group outings – as/when possible.

    Additional Requirements

    • Help foster a sense of community among residents and with the greater AA community.

    • Escort residents to AA events.

    • Represent the house positively and in a sober manner throughout the community and in all affairs.

    • Attend Ignatia Foundation fundraising events including but not exclusive to, Spaghetti Dinner, Spring Gala, Picnic, etc.

    • Participate in weekly 12-Step meetings, AA/Alanon, etc., outside of Ignatia House.

    • Must complete a 6-month probationary period showing ability to perform all aspects of job description.

    • Quarterly performance review.
